The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, in collaboration with The Goss-Michael Foundation, hosted the MTV RE:DEFINE 2019 benefit Friday, March 29, 2019, at The Statler Dallas, an iconic and historically significant hotel in downtown Dallas, Texas.
The gala event, chaired by Merrill Lynch Dallas Vice President Sami Abboud, co-hosted by MTV RE:DEFINE co-founders Joyce Goss and Kenny Goss, honoured celebrated artist and longtime MTV RE:DEFINE supporter Marc Quinn. The evening included a seated dinner in the Grand Ballroom at the Statler Hotel and a curated contemporary art and luxury item auction.
Dave White donated a new work entitled 'Lion' 5ft x 5ft, oil on Belgian Linen to the charity auction from his forthcoming Fragile collection. The auction raised over $1.6 million dollars on the evening.
“The millions of dollars we have raised to date in Dallas is testament to the generosity of MTV RE:DEFINE supporters, artists and galleries. The funds go to support the programs of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation whose mission is to ensure that young people globally are able to make informed choices about their own sexual and reproductive health”, said Georgia Arnold, Executive Director, MTV Staying Alive Foundation. “MTV Staying Alive is not only working toward an HIV-free world, but is doing so by ensuring the conversation is driven by empathy, inclusion and humanity, rather than the stigma and prejudice that has been too much a part of the disease for far too long”.
