TONGUE + CHIC SNEAKERS X ARTISTS EXHIBITION

9 – 25 October

Tuesday-Saturday, 12-7pm

Phillips Hong Kong Gallery

14/F St. George's Building, 2 Ice House Street, Central (map)

Phillips auction house presents Tongue + Chic, an exhibition bringing together one-of-a-kind sneakers designed by the most influential contemporary artists, such as KAWS, Damien Hirst, Daniel Arsham, Dave White and Takashi Murakami, among others. Tongue + Chic will be open to the public 9-25 October at Phillips Hong Kong galleries in the St George's building.

Curated by Elizabeth Semmelhack, Senior Curator at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, Tongue + Chic celebrates utilitarian objects which have become highly coveted works that straddle the divide between fashion and art.  Isaure de Viel Castel, Head of Department 20th Century & Contemporary Art, Phillips, said "...A new generation of art collectors are discovering fresh, new artists that relate to their lifestyle...aside from established names such as KAWS and Takashi Murakami,  the 24/7 auction offers work from fresh in-demand artists who have created a unique visual language spanning popular culture, abstract painting and art history"

Dave White  is exhibiting the original Nike Air Max 95 DW 'Rabbit & Fox' sneakers as part of this exhibition.
